But thus do I counsel you, my friends: distrust all in whom the impulse to punish is powerful!

Friedrich Nietzsche
About This Quote

When you read that “But thus do I counsel you, my friends,” it is as if the speaker is saying that those who are good people and commit no crime will commit no crime and those who commit crimes will commit crimes. This is not always true. Many people go through life and they make up their minds to be good and they want to live a quiet life with few crimes committed. This is not how people operate in the real world.

People change their ways of thinking and life moves on. They may feel like they are good but this does not mean that they will end up being good.
